Los Angeles and Rhyme Time

Last weekend Lydia and I drove down to Los Angeles to attend a bridal shower for my soon-to-be sister-in-law, Shireen. We had a great weekend celebrating and visiting with family. Uncle Ryan spent the day with Lydia while I was at the shower. They walked all around Beverly Hills and north Hollywood - I believe Lydia now has an agent. She also had her first room service, patio brunch, and parking ticket. Yikes!

On Thursday morning we attended a Nursery Rhyme and Story hour at our local library. Lydia loved all of the songs and seeing the other children clapping and joining in.

Dishes and Food

Oh hi guys. Nothing to see here...

On the day Lydia's first tooth arrived we forgot to take a photo of her with the milestone card. But it has arrived. As has her second, which came in two days after the first. First two arrivals were her bottom two middle teeth.

Here is Lydia pulling herself up in her crib and then getting stuck as she doesn't know how to get back down yet. When this happens at night it is not as funny as it appears to be here.

And then there is this eating routine, which is as funny as it appears to be here.

Eating

Recently Lydia has started to pick up her food and feed herself. She has quite a funny way of eating. She will inspect her food tray and make her choice: blueberries over all else, then bananas, then cheese, then whatever is left. She picks up her food in her right hand and uses her left hand to guide her right hand to her mouth. Here it is.

After her food is gone she sometimes celebrates by taking a sip of water.

Or by waving her water bottle around in the air and making monster noises.

All very fun. But nothing compared to pasta night.

A letter and baby quilt from 1994

Dearest Matthew
This baby quilt I have made for your first baby it will do for a boy or girl. Wash in warm or cold water - not hot that might shrink the batting that is inside. Mrs McLeod my neighbor at my house suggested I made a quilt for both my grandchildren. "God Bless you and make you a blessing for Him." It would be super if you went to a foreign land to teach or work for Him. God would be so pleased or even here in Canada our dear homeland.
With love your grandma Smith
