Wrapping

After school on Friday Lydia wrapped Mom’s Christmas gift and made some crafts to go with her card.

Here is Lydia after school.

And here she is making some awesome facial expressions while doing some awesome wrapping and card work.

The Ornament

We spent the day downtown Chicago yesterday doing some very important things. Some tradition. Some new. Here is a brief summary with lots of photos at the end.

First off…new.

According to Lydia, Sally’s hair was a mess. Translation: Dad can we please go to American Girl and pay to have Sally’s Hair done because we don’t know anybody who does hair. Like anybody.

Next…tradition.

Each year we get a new ornament for the Christmas tree. We did this at the Christmas Market downtown Chicago.

While downtown…new.

We also visited the Lincoln Park Zoo which had a light show on display. And hot chocolate.

Still downtown…new.

Cool bookstore. And cafe. And ice cream across the street.

And this morning…tradition.

Lydia put up this years new ornament.

Ticket to Ride

We had a family game night after dinner recently. Ticket to Ride - First Journey was the game. Lydia was the winner. We did not help her at all and she pretty much cleaned up. She won with 6 points (receiving the golden ticket!). Together, mom and dad had a total of 3 points.

Here are some photos of the night.

Five

“Five.”

That was Lydia’s first (and only) word to us when we walked into her room to wish her happy birthday.

We had a very fun day. She had requested a Girl’s Unicorn Party and so we had one. Below are some pictures from the big day.

Can’t believe she is five.

When she was born I was asked to give three words to describe how I felt. The words were what a joy (link). I would use the same words to describe these last five years.

The Lord has greatly blessed us with Lydia and we are very thankful for her.
