A Car with a Trailer

Lydia lost her first tooth today. It was quite the event. A couple of her teeth have been loose for a few days now and she has been really looking forward to one coming out (as seen in the apple eating below).

After her tooth came out (translation: after mom removed her tooth as per Lydia’s request that she do so), she told us what she wanted from the tooth fairy.

“It’s big. Really big.”

“What is it?”

“A car with a trailer.”

”You mean like one of the 4runners with an airstream behind it?”

”Yes. We can put it in our other parking stall.”

I found two US dollars that we are putting in a baggie. Difference: $179,998

I’m actually not sure how many more teeth she has to lose, but she went right to bed after this one. Of course, she spent some time trying out TH words first.

“Thhhhhunder.”

“Thhhhhhhreeeee.”

Butterflies and Two Guys

We had five caterpillars turn to butterflies in our home this month and today we were able to release them into the world. It was a very cool thing to see (from beginning to end). God has created many many amazing things but this one is such a clear pointer that it is very hard to miss: We watched, with our own eyes, caterpillars go into cocoons and come out with new bodies.

Interlude…

Here is Lydia’s self portrait.

I did once say that I would not trade Lydia for ten boys. And I still wouldn’t. But…we did trade her in for two guys for one evening. These guys.

Second interlude…

Here is Lydia’s portrait of Van Gogh. (Note his ear!)

And back to the butterflies. Here is release day.

We plan to put up the May 1SE video soon so make sure to check back in the next few days.

May So Far

We celebrated Mother’s Day last Sunday. I am thankful for Lydia’s awesome momma and Jaynie and I are thankful for our awesome mom’s as well.

Also, yesterday, my mom retired! We were all able to call and talk with her to congratulate her and we are looking forward to celebrating her retirement when the COVID restrictions ease up.

It is crazy that May is already halfway over. We have had a great month so far. Here are some pictures from the first half of May, beginning with a set of photos at one of our favourite hangout spots - a creek near us.

This next set is of Lydia with her new marble slide. It has been a big hit. She is quite the little engineer.

And here is a set that includes some funny photos of Lydia cleaning her feet during another trip to the creek.

And here are a couple from yesterday.
